【摘要】:Hydroxylisanimportantfunctionalgroupandknowledgeofitscontentisrequiredinmanyintermediateandenduseapplications.Thistestmethodisforthedeterminationofprimaryandsecondaryhydroxylgroupsandcanbeusedfortheassayofcompoundscontainingthem.Thistestmethodhasthefollowingadvantagesoverotherhydroxylnumbermethods:Itisrapid(10min),pyridine-free,ambienttemperature,smallsamplesize,applicabletoextremelylowhydroxylnumbers(x003C;1),andisamenabletoautomation.1.1Thistestmethodcoversthedeterminationofhydroxylgroupsattachedtoprimaryandsecondarycarbonatomsinaliphaticandcycliccompoundsandphenols.Itisnotsuitablefordeterminationofhydroxylgroupsattachedtotertiarycarbonatoms.Thistestmethodisapplicabletopolyacetals,temperaturesensitivematerials,highsolidspolymerpolyols,andrigidpolyols.OtheravailabletestmethodslistedinNote1arenotsuitableformanyofthesampletypeslistedabove.1.1.1Thistestmethodiscurrentlyrecommendedforneutralrefinedproducts.Successfulapplicationhasbeenmade,however,tosomein-processsamplesthatcontainanexcessofacidicspecies.Propervalidationmustbeperformed,ofcourse,toshowthattheacidicspecieseitherdoesnotinterfere,orthattheacidicspeciesinterferencehasbeenobviated.Note18212;OthermethodsfordeterminationofhydroxylgroupsaregiveninTestMethodsD817,D871,D1957,D2195,D4252,D4273,D4274,E222,E326,andE335.1.2ReviewthecurrentappropriateMaterialSafetyDataSheets(MSDS)fordetailedinformationconcerningtoxicity,firstaidprocedures,andsafetyprecautions.1.3ThevaluesstatedinSIunitsaretoberegardedasstandard.Nootherunitsofmeasurementareincludedinthisstandard.1.4Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associated,withitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.ForspecifichazardsseeSection9.
