【摘要】:Themodulusofruptureofcarbon-containingrefractoriesatelevatedtemperatureshasbecomeacceptedasausefulmeasurementinqualitycontroltestingandinresearchanddevelopment.Thesemeasurementsarealsousedtodeterminethesuitabilityofparticularproductsforvariousapplicationsandtodevelopspecifications.Thesamplemayundergosomeoxidationduringthetest.In1988,ruggednesstestingwasconductedonthistestprocedure.Thefollowingvariableswerestudied:3.2.1Testingtemperature(2525(1385)versus2575x00B0;F(1413x00B0;C)),3.2.2Airatmosphereversusargonatmosphereinthefurnace,3.2.3Holdtimepriortobreakingthesample(12versus18min),and3.2.4Loadingrateonthesample(175(778)versus350lb/min(1556N/min)).Resinbondedmagnesia-carbonbrickcontainingapproximately17%carbonaftercokingwheretestedintwoseparateruggednesstests.Metal-freebrickweretestedinthefirstruggednesstest,whilealuminum-containingbrickweretestedinthesecond.Resultswereanalyzedata95%confidencelevel.Forthemetal-freebrick,thepresenceofanargonatmosphereandholdtimehadstatisticallysignificanteffectsonthemodulusofruptureat2550x00B0;F(1400x00B0;C).Theargonatmosphereyieldedalowermodulusofrupture.Thesamplestestedinairhadawell-sintereddecarburizedzoneontheexteriorsurfaces,possiblyexplainingthehighermoduliofrupture.Thelongerholdtimecausedalowerresultforthemetal-freebrick.Forthealuminum-containingbrick,testingtemperature,thepresenceofanargonatmosphere,andloadingratehadstatisticallysignificanteffectsonthemodulusofruptureat2550x00B0;F(1400x00B0;C).Thehighertestingtemperatureincreasedthemeasuredresult,thepresenceofanargonatmosphereloweredtheresult,andthehigherloadingrateincreasedtheresult.1.1Thistestmethodcoversthedeterminationofthemodulusofruptureofcarbon-containingrefractoriesatelevatedtemperaturesinair.1.2Thevaluesstatedininch-poundunitsanddegreesFahrenheitaretoberegardedasstandard.Thevaluesgiveninparenthesesareforinformationonly.1.3Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.Forspecifichazardstatements,seeSection5.
